Plugging into Nature: Learning Outside the Classroom with iPads
ES1/Stage 1/2/3/4/5/6 Teachers
By blending natural experiences with the authentic use of technology it’s possible to create learning experiences that are highly engaging, support cross curriculum priorities and contribute to quality learning outcomes within the new NESA Syllabus for the Australian Curriculum.
Plugging into Nature will provide participants with practical ideas and pedagogical approaches for using iPads inside and outside the classroom to support teaching and learning.
We will investigate ways of supporting the sustainability cross curriculum priority through the integration of technology and outdoor learning into NESA Syllabus for Australian Curriculum.
Participants will be introduced to the SAMR model of technology integration, relevant cross curriculum priorities, the natural environment strand from the NESA Science syllabus and authentic learning methodologies.
After completion of the one day workshop teachers will develop or modify a series of lessons or a short unit of work to utilise iPads and natural environments as the context for learning.
Teachers will develop a multimodal text that provides an overview of their lesson sequence that will be published to the iBookstore.
This course will contribute 20 hours towards NESA registered professional development. It addresses the following Professional Teaching Standards 1.2.2, 2.1.2, 2.6.2, 3.2.2, 6.3.2, 7.4.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
